Brushless Motors

Brushless Motors

Now it gets a bit technical: electric motors, such as those used in electric boat motors, lull valves and outboards, are either (classic) with brushes or (modern and contemporary) without brushes. These brushes are there to transmit the electric current to the motor so that it rotates. The brushless electric motors for boats – such as EcoPower – score points with the contactless reversal of the polarity of the drive magnets inside them.

A brushless boat electric motor has a few advantages over a motor with brushes:

  • Less wear and tear: Because there are no brushes to wear out, a brushless motor will last longer and be more reliable.
  • Efficiency: Brushless electric drives are more efficient than brushed motors. This means that they use less energy (i.e. electricity or battery capacity) to move the boat, and thus the boat's battery/battery lasts longer.
  • Quiet operation: Brushless electric outboards are usually quieter than motors with brushes.
  • Less maintenance: With no brushes to replace or clean, a brushless motor requires less maintenance.

Overall, a brushless electric outboard is a good choice because it lasts longer, consumes less energy, is quieter and requires less maintenance, or in other words: brushless boat motors convince with significantly improved energy efficiency and far less wear.
