As a long-time sailor, I'm excited to introduce you to the Haswing Ventura F5.0 and T5.0 today – arguably the most affordable 160lbs electric outboard on the market alongside the Haswing Protruar 5. In this article, you will learn everything you need to know about the technical data, possible applications, price-performance ratio as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this electric drive, which impresses with its solid workmanship and an attractive price level. Above all, the Ventura is also available with remote control, which is not possible with the Haswing Protruar!

What is the Haswing Ventura?

The Haswing Ventura is an electric outboard with a power of 160lbs and is therefore in a performance class that is especially interesting for sailboats or cabin boats. The F5.0 model comes with remote control, while the T5.0 variant has pin control. Both engines are in in our shop and offer a very attractive alternative to electric outboards from other brands.

Technical data and special features

  • Achievement: maximum 2520 watts
  • Thrust: 160 lbs
  • Voltage: 24 Volt
  • Propeller: 3-blade propeller, diameter 27 cm
  • Weight: 15 / 17 kg
  • Material: Aluminum housing, saltwater resistant
  • Shaft: F5.0 = 77 cm, T5.0 = 70 cm

The motors are brushless and have no gearbox, which makes them low-maintenance. An LED battery indicator is also integrated.

Control and ease of use

The Ventura F5.0 variant is operated via a remote control that can be conveniently mounted on the boat. The remote throttle has a pleasant resistance feel and a fixed zero point, which allows precise control. The emergency stop switch is integrated directly into the throttle handwheel, which increases safety.

The Ventura T5.0 with pin control offers compact handling directly on the motor.

Both motors can be folded up in four stages, which makes it easier to transport and store. A carrying handle at the rear supports comfortable handling.

Battery recommendations and range

A 24V battery system is recommended for operation, ideally with a capacity of at least 100 Ah. Lithium-ion batteries such as the waterproof one are particularly suitable RoyPow 24V 100Ah Battery (LiFePo4) , which are a bit more expensive, but convince with high performance reserves and Bluetooth integration. Alternatively, two 12V AGM batteries can be connected in series, which is a more cost-effective solution.

The power consumption at maximum power is around 105 amps, which is why the battery selection should be made carefully, depending on the range requirements and territory.

Price and comparison with other 24V electric outboards

Depending on the version, the Haswing Ventura electric motor is currently available for €1,300-1,400 – an unbeatable price-performance ratio in the 24V range. For comparison, especially with a whopping 160lbs:

  • ePropulsion Navy 3.0 Evo: approx. € 2,549 (without battery)
  • Torqeedo Cruise 3 kW models: much more expensive

Other manufacturers often offer more additional functions such as displays or more powerful motors, but at significantly higher prices. For budget-conscious buyers, the Haswing Ventura is one of the most attractive options and the only real alternative to the Ecopower 3.0 tiller control or Ecopower 3.0 Remote Control Calm valves, which are also available in our Webshop are available.

For which boats is the Haswing Ventura suitable?

The motors are particularly suitable for:

  • medium and large inflatable boats
  • Sailboats up to about 2.5t displacement

For smaller inflatable boats or light planing boats, the engine is usually too powerful.

Volume and operating experience

The operating volume is about 55 decibels, comparable to a refrigerator. In the lower speed range, the engine is almost silent.

Conclusion: Haswing Ventura – Solid performance at a fair price

The Haswing Ventura 5.0 convinces above all with its low price and solid quality at the same time. Despite its Chinese origin, it is by no means a "cheap product", but a robust, durable electric motor that can easily last 15-20 years with proper care.

It is particularly suitable for sailboats and sailing yachts up to approx. 2.5 tons, which are an inexpensive and low-maintenance alternative to the more expensive brands. The simple controls, flexible folding positions and the possibility of remote control make everyday use comfortable.

However, if you have the highest demands on additional functions, you should also consider the higher-priced alternatives. However, for all those who are looking for a good overall package at a low price, the Haswing Ventura is a clear recommendation.
